## What it's like

Blue Osa sits by the beach at Playa Tamales, on the Pacific side of the Osa Peninsula near Puerto Jiménez. We first wrote about it in 2015, and in October 2026 its site was current, with packages and teacher trainings on sale.

It's a yoga-first place: an open-air studio, a yoga deck, a spa and meals built around produce from its own garden and local farms. But it's also on the Osa, one of the wildest parts of Costa Rica, so mornings of yoga can be followed by an afternoon looking for monkeys and macaws.

## Rooms and facilities

Blue Osa has 13 rooms and can host up to 36 guests, which keeps group retreats small. There's a chemical-free lap pool, an eco-spa with a full menu of treatments, and a private beach about 50 m away.

## Programs

You can come for a yoga vacation, join a group retreat or bring your own group. Blue Osa also runs Yoga Alliance 200 and 300-hour teacher trainings. Adventure options on the Osa include kayaking, waterfall hikes, wildlife tours and trips into [Corcovado National Park](/corcovado-national-park/), which need booking ahead because visitor numbers are limited.

## Where it fits in a trip

The Osa takes most of a day to reach, so give it at least 4 nights. Many travelers end a two-week trip here after Arenal and Monteverde. If you want wildlife lodges rather than a yoga program, compare it with [Lapa Rios](/lapa-rios/) on the same side of the peninsula, or [Copa de Arbol](/copa-de-arbol/) near Drake Bay. Our [Osa Peninsula guide](/osa-peninsula/) explains the two sides.

## Who it suits (and who it doesn't)

It suits yoga lovers, wellness travelers, retreat groups and anyone training to teach. It's less suited to travelers who want a lively town or a big resort.

## Getting there

Blue Osa says the quickest route is a domestic flight of about 40 minutes from San José to Puerto Jiménez, followed by a short transfer. By road, a shuttle or private transfer from San José takes about 5 to 6 hours. See our [getting around guide](/getting-around-costa-rica/).
